season of pink trees







Yes, while I've been lying in bed almost too sick to notice, spring has been arriving in earnest. Top two, a dwarf peach (foreground, with plum? behind) across the street at Steve & China's; two of our plum tree, where a flock of small birds appeared to be nibbling on blossoms today; and a magnolia one block over.

1) I *wish* we could grow lupine like this, seen out on a recent walk.

2) Euphorbia, of a low-growing sort.

3) Ceanothus out in the front yard, with euphorbia to the left & rosemary to the right.

unstaged still-life


Honestly, what first caught my eye was the morning sunlight illuminating some quite impressive cobwebs. You hardly even see 'em in the afternoon! Then I noticed that this was a rather pleasing assortment of stuff-- it's a shelf in our laundry area, above the washer & dryer-- the place in our house where vases live, and apparently parts of old bouquets that still hold some interest.
